Competition Rules
WSDC Jack & Jill contests follow World Swing Dance Council rules. Event rules apply where relevant.
Official WSDC Rules & Points Registry
Please register for the level you’ve achieved in the points registry. If you believe you should compete in a different division, you can submit a petition at the registration desk.
Which Level Should I Register For?
Quick Guidance: Register for the level you have achieved in the points registry. With updated rules, if you’ve pointed out of a division, you must advance (even without a 1st place win). If you believe you should compete at a different level, submit a petition at the registration desk before the deadline.
General rules for all competitions
Eligibility requirements
- Have a pass eligible for comps.
- Register for each competition by the official entry deadline (see the weekend schedule).
- Pick up your bib number during registration times and wear it (recommended for spotlight finals).
- Pay any required entry fees.
- Meet all other specific entry requirements outlined in these rules.
Multiple registrations
Multiple registrations are allowed. If you enter more than one couples competition, you must dance with a different partner each time. For WSDC Jack & Jill competitions, competing in two skill levels is only permitted under specific circumstances—refer to the official rules.
Dancing in a non-traditional role
You may enter any competition in any role. You cannot dance the same competition in both roles.
Submitting a petition
If you want to enter a competition for which you do not meet the entry requirements, or want to change divisions, request a petition form at registration and submit it before the deadline.
